Project: Sewanee Convocation Hall
Location: Sewanee, TN

The University of the South invited WINDIGO to design the transformation of an impressive 1908 sandstone fraternity house into their new alumni affairs headquarters. We are working in conjunction with the University and local consultants to re-instate the original design principles of this beautiful and unique structure, while creating an environment to satisfy the contemporary and technological requirements of the alumni center.

Unfortunately, through years of neglect and disrepair, extensive measures are needed to return this impressive structure to its original splendor.

Restoration work includes cleaning and tuckpointing exterior stone work, replacing the flat roofs, all windows, wood flooring, and the reconstruction of all interior wall surfaces.

New work will include a new stone entrance terrace and rampways, and a stone deck at the rear of the building that will be more harmonious with the building’s original design than the wood deck it is replacing.

The bulding is centrally located on the beautiful Oxford-like campus, adjacent to many of the University’s most prominent buildings.
