NJ Shore House 2

NJ SHORE HOUSE 2

Located right next to the water this project presented important resiliency opportunities for future flooding. There are logical responses in this design like a pier foundation supporting an elevated main level and breakaway walls below would ensure the continued stability and usability of the house after even a 100 year storm. However, these elements became exciting opportunities to create a friendly and refined design that celebrates its location. The unique central spiral stair would lead upwards to rooms with wide views through angled windows arranged radially to see the idyllic views in all directions. Even the uppermost level reserves space for additional rooms radially arranged around the dramatic spiral stair. All positioned together the design can remind of a lighthouse. Much like a lighthouse this residence was designed to last, to have panoramic views, and to be seen from afar.
