Benjamin Kinghorn
Ben became interested in architecture through exploring the construction of new housing developments near his childhood home while growing up. Seeing how buildings are put together was exciting and educational. Simultaneously he was developing his creative side through music (singing, cello, piano) and musical theater. Architecture was the intersection of those interests. A high school ‘Intro to Architecture’ class planted the seed that the union of expressing his creative side and enjoyment of figuring out the technical side of how things get put together could be joined. Ben graduated with honors from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2016 with a Bachelor of Architecture and a minor in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. While there he won a two-week internship as a part of semester long design studio competition for a Habitat for Humanity project. He was also selected for design showcases and super juries on multiple occasions. Professionally he has worked on projects ranging from schematic core and shell design for local retail malls to a university design school in Turkey. Ben became licensed in New Jersey in 2020 and maintains NCARB certification. He is also LEED AP BD+C accredited as of 2020. Ben enjoys getting outside (particularly mountain biking, hiking, and backpacking with friends) as well as spending time with family when possible.
