WINK - FLEXTRONICS
Flextronics, a multinational technological manufacturer and the parent company of Wink, approached Windigo to design its NY commercial headquarters. Windigo worked closely with the company, which was rapidly growing during the design phase, to identify the types of spaces that were not only needed at the time but would be needed as the company continued to expand.
Windigo designed the office spaces to double as a STEM Lab and Maker Space in which the employees could test and develop new technologies. Great attention was given to creating a variety of collaborative spaces. Part of the facility also functions as a working showroom, including a prototypical home and retail space that demonstrates the company’s technology and associated products. The Maker Space, work bench offices and showroom are spatially and visually connected to promote interaction and and collaboration between departments. The offices, lab and showroom occupy multiple units within a 125 year old storage facility and feature polished concrete floors, an exposed heavy timber structure, raw brick walls, and glass display partitions. Achieving spatial openness within a massive masonry structure framed with heavy timbers was a major focus of this project, creating a dynamic interior environment in line with Flextronics’ inventive corporate philosophy.
